TMS320F28069M: UART half Duplex - automatic direction control RS-485

Part Number: TMS320F28069M

Hello,

We are working on a project that requires SCI bootloading for the F28069M.  The customer has specified half duplex UART for the project.

Because we will be running out of SCI mode from the ROM code, we won't have direct control of the RS-485 direction control pins.

But, we found this interesting application note on the TI website.  I've attempted to attach it, but the doc number is tidubw6.   If my attempt to attach the pdf fails, a google search on "TI tidubw6" brings it up.

Title:  TI Designs    Automatic Direction Control RS-485

Has anyone attempted to integrate TI's solution into a project?   If so, how did it go?   I just hoped to get an idea about how often this solution might have been successfully utilized.

Thanks!tidubw6_automatic485spec.pdf

  • Hi Anne,

I'm not aware of anyone who has attempted this with our family of C2000 devices.  However, I believe this could be a feasible solution for your system.

For more information on the TI-Design and the design shown, I might recommend posting a question to the Industrial -> Industrial Interface forum.  They're also likely to have more feedback on how the design has worked in various applications.

Besides making sure the transmitter isn't enabled for too much more time than necessary, you'll also want to make sure that your baud rate is sufficiently slow so that the delay doesn't end up being a bottleneck (the delay between the C2000 begins to transmit & the driver enable signal begins to go high).

    Good luck in your project!

    Thank you,
    Brett
