TMS320F280049M: Max baud rate of UART by LIN module

Part Number: TMS320F280049M

Dear champs,

I am asking this for customers.

As we know, baud rate of LIN is only up to 20 Kbps.

If LIN is used as UART mode, is the max baud rate limited to 20 Kbps, too?

If not, what is the max baud rate it supports?

We use this LIN/UART by CLA because CLA can only access LIN/UART rather than SCI.

  • Hello Wayne,

The LIN specification is up to 20Kbps, you are correct. theoretically, you can set up the LIN to transmit at faster or slower rates as well, you just wouldn't be complying to the LIN standards.

The maximum bit rate is SYSCLK/32. Theoretically the maximum baud rate for the LIN in SCI mode is 3.125MHz based on this calculation.

  • Mark,

    It's good.
    Thank you for your confirmation.
