TMDXIDDK379D: TMDXIDDK379D usb power

Is it safe to connect a computer to the micro usb port on top of the control card while the EVM is being powered by an external supply since they both can provide power to the control card. I don't want to burn up a computer or control card to find out.

You might create a ground loop since you don't have a common ground.

Hi,

If the IDDK is configured such that the C2000 is on the 'cold'-side, you are probably fine.

If the IDDK is configured such that the C2000 is on the 'hot'-side (and you're going to run the inverter), I would highly recommend using some sort of external USB isolator device to isolate the USB signals between the controlCARD and your computer.
