TMS320F28035: Program will not fit into available memory error after adding Printf statement

I am trying to debug my LIN communication and want to see what are the values inside the function with breakpoints and printing some values. But It seems I am running out of memory as soon as I add printf statement. I think below pictures are explaining the errors I am getting on memory segments. FLASHA and .bss is overloaded. Can any one help me with this ? Which memory I can expand and how much ? What is the permanent solutions for this bcoz I want to add 5-6 print statements to check some values in console.

Thanks Mark, Still I have the same problem. I am unable to understand why a printf statements overloads it. I solved .bss issue but still having the issue in CMD's line.

.text : > FLASHA PAGE = 0

How can I increase it's size ?

Gaurav,

You can increase the memory allocation for the .text section in any of 3 ways, as documented on the wiki page:
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../C28x_Compiler_-_Understanding_Linking

1. You can combine contiguous memory sections into a single block:
FLASHE_F : origin 0x0310000, length = 0x010000 /*FLASHE and FLASHF combined*/

2. Split the .text section across multiple memory sections:
.text : >> FLASHA | FLASHB | FLASHC, PAGE = 0

3. allocate .text as a whole into the first memory in which it fits completely:
.text : > FLASHA | FLASHB | FLASHC

Hi!

On the 28035 the standard printf needs too much memory to be useful.

I recommend to use the watch window for debugging and/or try to reduce the size of printf as describe here.processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Tips_for_using_printf

Thanks thomas. I am using watch window and also increased the memory sections in linker.
