    Richard,

                Please download SLOA101 from the TI website. If you are new to the CAN protocol, this is an excellent app.note to read cover-to-cover. Fig 6 shows you how to connect two or more CAN nodes. That takes care of the hardware part. For the software part, I recommend downloading C2000ware. Take a look at the example C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_1_00_00_00\device_support\f2833x\examples\ecan_a_to_b_xmit . You can easily modify this for communication between two nodes.
