TMS320F28335: How to get the warranty or repair services for my TMS320F28335 controlcard

Part Number: TMS320F28335
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSCNCD28335

Dear Ti,

I have question about how to get the warranty for my  TMS320F28335 controlcard. If I purchase the controlcard from Mouser Electronics. Is there option I can get the repair or warranty services from TI

Best Regards,
John

  • Hi John,

TI does not offer repair services for C2000 evaluation kits.

Can you give some more details about the damage to the controlCARD (and under what conditions the damage occurred)?

We may be able to provide some advice on whether you might be able to repair it yourself, etc.

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Hi Brett,

    Thanks for your replied.

However, I think maybe I used 4V to my ADC pin, that's reason why I damaged the TMS320F28335 IC. After I test the configuration connection in CCS, I was getting an error in USB part.

I did change a new control-card to make sure the problem/condition from my TMS320F28335 dockstation, it seems working alright.

So I guess, the old TMS320F28335 IC chip is already broken. I have observed the soldering part of the TMS320F28335 is not that easy solder out, If I wants to change a new TMS320F28335 IC.

Is there any video, advice and solution. I can easily repair it by myself.

    Best Regards,
    John
  • Hi John,

Yes, that sounds like a good potential root cause.  I've been in similar situations myself.

If you can be absolutely be sure that the C2000 chip is the only thing damaged, you may be able to rework the device.  However, the effort and cost to do so may be prohibitive - especially if the F28335 controlCARD you have is one where the F28335 is in a BGA package.  There's also no guarantee that the rework will be successful.

Unfortunately, my best recommendation would be to purchase a new TMDSCNCD28335 (this kit only contains the F28335 controlCARD).

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Hi Brett,

    Thanks for your replied again.

Yes, BGA soldering part is not an easy job to repair it due to not so much experience in this. I will be considering to buy a new control-card as you mentioned in the link. Currently, I will be using an old one to continue my project. Anyway, thanks for your advice :)

    Best Regards,
    John
