TMS320F28377S: microcontrollers and DSPs

Part Number: TMS320F28377S
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS6125

In TMS320 series there are both microcontrollers and DSPs.

It is said:" If the digital lock-in amplifiers have access to the processing power of a DSP, the multiplication of r(t) and m(t) can be implemented directly in firmware." Is it true to TMS320 series? Dose TMS32028377S work well to implement this kind of multiplication? In low frequency range digital lock-in amplifiers are popular, below 2MHz, but higher frequency range, for example, over 10MHz.

  • Hi Jingtai,

From an analog perspective, the maximum ADC sample rate is around 3MSPS and the ADC bandwidth is around 10MHz, so you won't be able to use the on-chip ADC for such high frequencies.

Digitally, the device is well suited to doing multiplication, multiplication + accumulation, and implementing a variety of digital filters. It is hard to say if it could meet the specific requirements of the algorithm for higher frequencies.
  • ADS6125 will be integrated.

Regarding with the digital performance our test will be implemented to check the device ability.

    Thanks for your support.
