Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSCNCD28335
Hello,
I am currently creating a library part for the TMS320F28335 MCU to use in a new project. We are using the 176-BGA version.
From table 4-1 in the datasheet, it looks like GPIOs 16-19 are an SPI module. GPIOs 54-57 are also given as an SPI module. This is corroborated by the pinout diagram. However they are both listed as SPI-A.
The TI product overview page (and datasheet) clearly state that this chip has only 1x SPI module. The pinouts show 2, and no mention is made of this whatsoever either in the datasheet or in the SPI app-note specific to this chip (SPRUEU3A).
So what's the deal? Is this a mistake? Can I use either one? Do I have to select between the two? If I use one can I still use the other as regular GPIO pins?
A secondary issue came up while reviewing the TMDSCNCD28335 reference design (R2.2). Each power pin here seems to show an inductor (I assume a ferrite bead). However, this guide from TI very clearly contradicts this and emphatically states not to use ferrite beads on main digital power pins.
So again, which is it?
Your help is very much appreciated.
