Hi Sean,

My DC bus Voltage is 44 Volt. gMotorVars.VdcBus_kV 0.0433.
I can spin my Motor with Maximum Speed with lab12b.

Some Tests i have made:

1. PosStepInt_MRev = 400 -> This would make 100 turns.
2. MaxVel_krpm = 0.5
3. RunPositionProfile = 1 -> start the Move
4. Motor speed increase with the MaxAccel_krpmps.
5. When it reaches the speed 0.5 it hold the speed.
6. Now it make the turns.
6. Then Motor speed decrease with the MaxDecel_krpmps.
7. 100 turns are done

Same Test with MaxVel_krpm = 5.0.
Motor not reaches the speed 5.0.
It hold at speed 1.2 a while.
Why it dont reaches speed 5.0?

Is there are speed limit ?

Back from holiday.
Thanks for your reply.

I have set the position step to an maximum but the speed not increase.
When I set the MaxAccel_krpmps and MaxDecel_krpmps to a higher value (4.0)
I can spin the Motor up to 5.0 when MaxVel_krpm = 5.0.

When I set the MaxAccel_krpmps and MaxDecel_krpmps to a lower value (0.2) to get an
flater ramp the Maximum speed is about 1.2.
When it spins at 1.2 now the Motor does the following.
It stops and spin continuous each second.
After I while the Motor ramp down and then it stops.

I dont know which context have the MaxAccel_krpmps / MaxDecel_krpmps to the MaxVel_krpm.
It must reach also the MaxVel_krpm when the (MaxAccel_krpmps / MaxDecel_krpmps)
has an lower value for an flater ramp.
I know that the position step value must big enough to reach the speed.

SpinTAC Move is a constraint-based profile generator, so changing one of the limits will impact the overall profile.  So there is no guarantee that the profile will reach your maximum velocity, acceleration or deceleration.  

Based on your position step, when you decrease the acceleration this will limit the max speed since the profile generator needs to be able to decelerate based on your constraint back to 0 speed without exceeding the position step.  So i'm not surprised that with decreased acceleration you have a decreased maximum speed.  The only way to get a higher speed with a lower acceleration would be to increase the position step.  But even that, based on the way the profile is structured it would need to be a large increase in the position step.

It is clear to me that my end position must be so large enough that my end speed can be reached at all.
I have set my end position to a very very high value but the motor dont reach the speed i have set (MaxVel_krpm).
When i set the MaxAccel_krpmps to a higher value then i can reach the Speed.

Can you explain me why it dont works.

In position control when doing motion planning all of the constraints are entwined.  The maximum speed is dependent on both the acceleration and the end position.  Since you have a limited range of travel there is a limited ability to reach speeds while not overshooting the target.  If you are using the st-Curve or s-Curve this is further influenced by considering the jerk.

Additionally, in order to make the profile generator as universal as possible while considering all of the various constraints the maximum theoretical speed can be lowered in order to simplify the complex math involved in profile calculation.  The actual max speed (in addition to the other profile limits) are available in the msg structure under SpinTAC Position Move.

I set the PosStepInt_mrev to a big value so the end speed can be reached.
My End Speed MaxVel_krpm is set it to 5000.
Then i make some position moves and show what end speed i really reached.
The only Value I changed is the MaxAccel_krpmps.

Yes, that appears normal. With more acceleration you can get higher speeds.

What is the PosStepInt_mrev you are using?

Are you setting MaxAccel_krpmps & MaxDecel_krpmps to be the same?

Since you are constrained by the end position the only way to get higher speed with lower acceleration is to increase the position target.
