it seems, my XDS510PP+ (www.mikrocontroller.net/.../XDS510PP-Plus.jpg) will not be suppoerted by
by Win 7 and therefore by CCSv7 (e2e.ti.com/.../160420, "the list
of operating systems supported does not show Win7").
May be the XDS510PP+ was supported as long as Windows XP has been supported (CCSv6), may be CCSv4 was the last one (e2e.ti.com/.../160420, "All Spectrum Digital JTAG emulation drivers and CCStudio target configurations for the CCStudio v4.x platform are included with the Code Composer Studion software installation.")?
An the other question - which version of CCS was the first one with support for TMS320F2837xy?

You mean the note "The 5.0.0 compiler generates code for C28x device with 32-bit FPU
coprocessor." in the corresponding Release Notes?
Enough to be sure, 5.0.x supports TMS320F283xy?

There is still a connection entry in CCSv7.1 for "Spectrum Digital XDS510 Parallel Port-PCI Emulator". However I would strongly recommend getting something newer. The drivers for that probe likely have not been touched in a decade. It does not support F2837x devices.
