TMS320F2812: We're considering upgrading our F2812 boards with floating point, any suggestions for processor?

Part Number: TMS320F2812

We need to redesign a board we sell because of a part going obsolete. The board uses an F2812, and we're considering upgrading to a chip that does native floating point. We have several complex C code programs that we bundle with the board, so we'd like to maintain some degree of software compatibility if possible. Do you have any suggestions on good chips to consider?

I'd recommend you take a look at F28377D. It's the latest dual-core part with 200MHz floating-point performance, and several CPU accelerators. You will have some software porting to do, but it should all be pretty straightforward and you will get a lot more performance. It is assembly code compatible with F2812.

If you don't need all the performance there are lower cost single core variants. There's a "LaunchPad" development tool you can find in the product folder which should help you to evaluate it.
