TMS320F28027F: AIO and ADC setup

Part Number: TMS320F28027F

Hello,

I was wondering if there is a way to use the on board AIO_xx and how do i use it.

I dont see where i could set the multiplexer to have it as an analog input and output. Can i drive the analog output to drive an LED ?

I have run out of gpios and would like to use something to drive an LED.

Are here any other options which I can use to drive an LED?

Regards,

Rajan Joshi

  • Rajan,

AIO function very similar to GPIO you should follow the steps in section 4.2 Configuration Overview of the System Control and Interrupts Reference Guide. To setup the AIO as an IO you will need to configure the AIOMUX register, the options for this register are detailed in table 59 of the same document.

After you get the AIO setup you should know a few things.

    1. The AIO don't have an internal pullup
    2. AIO pins have a maximum current they can source/sink that is detailed in the Datasheet Table 5.3 Recommended Operating conditions(+/-4mA)

Can you drive and LED? Yes, however if your LED will requires more current than the pins can provide you will need to use some sort of buffer.
