TMS320F28379D: Programming MCU

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Hello

I am using the F28379D controlcard for a power electronics application.
For the moment, I provide the big header for the controlcard on my board but in the future I would like to buy and use the MCU itself directly on the PCB as I need to test the PCB in a closed casing where there is no room for the height of the controlcard.

I have however no/very little experience in this area and I was wondering how to program the MCU when I solder it directly on my board.
Do I also need to provide some kind of USB port and the isolation (XDS 100v2 USB debug probe) on my PCB? Do you have an application note or white paper about this? Do I need to buy some additional equipment for this?

Besides this connection issue, are there any recommendations to protect the input/output ports?

Kind regards

Simon

You can simply provide a 14-PIN JTAG header on your PCB. Later, you can program - debug the controller using external XDS100v2 or XDS110 debuggers.

  • Hello Gautam

Thanks for the quick reply. Could you provide me the link/product number to the debugger that I need to buy for this? Or is this one OK: be.farnell.com/.../1831927

And are there no other things that I need to take into consideration? Cause for the moment I always stay connected via my computer in CCS. It should become an application that runs entirely on its own.

    Kind regards

Either the above or this is the latest one:

Exactly. The code should be configured to Run from Flash instead of RAM.
