Hi Hara,
Welcome to the forum.
You can find examples for using the CMPSS in ControlSUITE or C2000Ware in the device specific folders. Not sure what WDT stands for, can you clarify that? Also, do you mind expanding on the part of the Technical Reference Manual you were having comprehension issues?
Hara,
Detecting overcurrent/overvoltage is one of the common use-cases for the CMPSS.
In broad terms, you compare the monitored current against a reference current and when the overcurrent condition happens, the CMPSS will trip.
Not sure what you mean by "how reliable" but if you are asking how good of a solution the CMPSS is for detecting an overcurrent condition, i'll say it's one of the best mostly because it's very fast. However, like all comparators, the CMPSS will be sensitive to noise on the input. To help mitigate that, there are a lot of features built into the CMPSS to make the system more immune to noise like configurable hysteresis, output filter and a latching mechanism.
A watchdog timer reset will reset the peripherals including the cmpss configuration registers so the cmpss will no longer trip because it will have to be reconfigured.
