My LaunchXL-F28069M IC got shorted somehow and as a result it started overheating within 2 seconds of connecting it with my PC. LEDs go dim after 2 seconds. So I ordered new IC and replaced the old IC. After I start debugging session, the program is not working. In watch window, ADCRESULT registers show 0 value. Also error is being displayed---could not read register ST1.

What should be done?

I'd order a new Launchpad for $24.99 plus shipping. IMO

You'll have to replace U12 (LMR62421XMFE) too I feel.

Hi Gautam,

I've checked the output at TP2 and its 5V. So perhaps U12 is working. I was running Motorware project lab01c. But now, the controller status stays in Idle mode forever. Below is the screenshot. It used to change to CTRL_state_online.

What about U17: TPS62162DSGR ? Check TP30. If possible probe the test point and monitor the same on DSO. Check for its stability.

TP30 is stable at 3.28V. Checked it on DSO. But TP1 is 0V. Also My IC is TMS320F28069PZPS instead of TMS320F28069MPZT. Does it make a difference?

That should not be an issue.

Can you check the status of XRS pin? Also, check the functionality of S2 and its corresponding effect on XRS pin.

Also, can you try to program a sample code from controlSuite?

XRS pin is at 3.3V during up/down states of SW2. I ran asyncscheduling example present on simulink on microcontroller by uploading the file generated by the c28xx_asyncscheduling_ert.out by using load option in debug view. It is running. But as I said previously, Motorware projects are not running. Same problem is there.

Please check the voltage levels on power pins and the state of the reset pin. If the power supply got damaged, the lower voltage could put the device in an internal reset state with the XRSn pin being driven low from the inside of the device.

Hi Peter

I have checked the power pins, VDDIO is 3.3 V and VDD IS 1.8V. XRS pin is 3.3V. LED D10 is not glowing in any case.

I ran Example_2806x_AdcSoc in debugging mode. The result register ADCRESULT0 is not showing changing ADC input in continous refresh mode.

It only shows changed output once I pause and then resume the debugging. It is showing continously changing ADC result.

In short, the controller is functioning well atleast from RAM. Try running the same from flash.

Okay. So it is running good in RAM. ADCRESULT0 changes with changing input. But when run on Flash, the program is not running. ADCRESULT0 is showing a constant value(81(decimal)). The configuration used in both cases is PiccoloF28069M.ccxml.

If I change the configuration file to TMS320F28069_XDS100v2.ccxml, then ADCRESULT0 is not changing continously with changing input(program on RAM). It shows changes only after pressing pause and then resuming again.

What do you get when you measure the voltage with a DVM on the external pins associated with ADCRESULT0 and ADCRESULT1?

I get 0V at both the pins associated with ADCRESULT0 AND ADCRESULT1 when I am running code from RAM or Flash.

If this is the kit you are using, I think you need the TMS320F28069MPZT part.
I'd buy a new LAUNCHXL-F28069M. The attached BOOSTXL board may have been damaged along with the original Launchpad. If you try a new pristine Launchpad and still have problems, it is strong evidence that there is something wrong with the other board.

I think you are right. I am using TMS320F28069PZPS. It might not be instaspin enabled. That's why maybe the motorware programs are not detecting the controller. I am using a custom board. Everything was working fine until TMS320F28069MPZT got damaged and I replaced it with F28069PZPS one.

But still Example_2806xAdcSoc is not running from Flash on TMS320F28069PZPS. Example_2806xLEDBlink is working fine from both flash as well as RAM.

This is not a instaspin enabled part. You need an M/F suffix after F28069.

Hello Gautam

I ve ordered new MPZT model. I ran LedBlink example on PZPS. It is working from both RAM and Flash. I guess only ADC example has issues with Flash on F28069PZPS. Anyway thanks for replying to my problems :).

But that's fishy! The above combo should very well work too. Does the ADC example runs perfectly through RAM?

Yes It runs perfectly on RAM. I can see changing ADCRESULT0 and ADCRESULT1 in register window in continous refresh mode. But in flash running, I can only see a fixed value of 81 in ADCRESULT0 AND 80 in ADCRESULT1. :/

Can you once delete the workspace or shift to a new workspace and import:
C:\ti\controlSUITE\device_support\f2806x\v151\F2806x_examples_ccsv5\adc_soc

Let me know what you observe.

I shifted to the new workspace. The program from Flash is still showing same problem. Also I start the debug session by right clicking the target configuration and selecting launch configuration. Then I connect to target and load the .out file generated after building the example project(from RAM). It works fine. If I start the same example by clicking debug example_adcsoc(from RAM & with same target configuration set as default), the ADCRESULT0 does nt refresh automatically, it only refreshes after the pausing the session.

Are you using the C2000 ADCSOC example?
C:\ti\c2000\C2000Ware_1_00_01_00\device_support\f2806x\examples\c28\adc_soc

FYI
I tried compiling with the ControlSuite example with CCS 7.2 and encountered issues launching the debugger in either case.

No I am using the CONTROLSUITE example C:\ti\controlSUITE\device_support\f2806x\v151\F2806x_examples_ccsv5\adc_soc. I am using CCS 7.1.0.

Yes, I am also facing issues with debugger.

Yes, of CCS v7 onwards, C2000ware is suggested instead of controlSuite.
