TMS320F28027F: BLDC Hub Motor Makes grinding noise during heavy acceleration

Part Number: TMS320F28027F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301, MOTORWARE

Hello -

I am using custom hardware with the F28027F MCU and DRV8301 driver.

I am currently commutating a hub motor (30 pole, 50V, 1000W) and it works quite well. However, the motor makes a very noticable and disconcerting noise during heavy acceleration with load. The phenomenon occurs only in the upper portion of the speed range. It is consistent and happens every time. The motor eventually accelerates through this range and then spins quietly at higher speeds.

I am using Motorware 18, Lab 11a (10a also does the same) with torque control.

Please help, as this is detracting from the user experience and I am not sure if it is a sign of something wrong in the system. Please advise.

Best,

  • Please try to adjust the current loop parameters, and use different current loop parameters for low/high speed state. Did you have any current waveform when motor run with high noise? Did you check the reference and feedback current value in torque current PID regulator?
