TMS320F280049M: Delay to Trip Zone Submodule

Part Number: TMS320F280049M

Hello,

My customer use Trip zone with more than 8 input which come from the followings.

・TZ1-3

・XINT1-5 from X-BAR

・Digital-Compare sub module.

Between the above each input signal,  are there difference delay time to TZ sub module from input source?  Could you let me know the time required to reach TZ sub module for the each input?

And, I understand we can use XBARFLG to judge the source of TZ for CMPSS. Correct?

Regards,

Furuya

  • Hi Furuya,

For Trip Zone timings please reference your device specific datasheet (www.ti.com/.../tms320f280049m.pdf). In this case, Table 5-65 ePWM Switching Characteristics lists the maximum time for a trip to be 25 ns. Note this is a MAX value and it will usually be much faster than that.

The XBARFLG is one valid way to check to the source of the trip. Depending on your trip setup, you could also look at the various flags in the TZ registers. There are now specific registers such as CBC1, CBC2, etc to show the specific trip that occurred. If you only have one trip source, this would work as well.

  • Kris-san,

    Thank you. One more question.
I understand 14 input(max) can be supported when using CMPSS. Correct?

  • Hi Furuya,

Can you expand on your question? I'm not sure what you're asking exactly. Is this a question with regards to the CMPSS or the EPWM?

    Regards,

    Kris

  • Sorry, I want to know how many trip source can be generated from CMPSS module.

    Furuya
  • Hi Kris-san,

I checked table 5-65, and it mention 25ns(Max).

But, I think the delay time will be changed depending on the route in the device. For example, I think it is different delay time between red and green.

In this case, how should I think the delay time for the trip. Does all of the case has 25ns(max)?

    Regards,

    Furuya

  • Hi Furuya,

I believe that the MAX number listed in the datasheet covers the worst case of either scenario above. Let me verify with the design team and get back to you.

    Kris
