TMS320F28374S: Noise immunity test and level

Part Number: TMS320F28374S

Hi Team,

The Inductor is placed very close to TMS320F28374SPTPT on the system.

We are worry about noise immunity of C2000

Do you have any results of Noise immunity test?

Do you apply IEC61000-4-3 and IEC61000-4-8 for TMS320F28374SPTPT?

Do you have the acceptable level of external noise(Power-frequency magnetic field immunity and Radiated, radio-frequency, electromagnetic field immunity )?

Thanks and Best regards,

Kuerbis

  • Hello,
I am writing to let you know that a C2000 team member has been assigned to this post and should be answering shortly.

  • Kuerbis,

Why does this inductor worry you? Some things you may want to think about if you are having issues...

    • Inductor design (is it an open design, or a closed design like a toroid)
    • What is your core material? (some are more susceptible to noise)
    •  I don’t know how the inductor is used, but another good question to ask yourself; How close is the inductor to the resonate frequency?

We have tested a controlCARD that uses F28379D, TMDSDOCK28379D. That kit as passed all of the tests you mention here, but this says very little about your design being compliant. My understanding is that most failures are due to layout and design issues, not any one component.

As long as the Datasheet isn't violated the device should continue to work without issue. I cannot give you the limits in terms of magnetic field strength, radio-frequency or EM field strength as these are all related to how well your board couples these noise sources.

  • Hi Cody

Thank you for replying to me.

This question actually comes from the customer. They are choosing the device. And the system board will be placed near by the inductor. So they think they need to take care something for a device placement on the board.

Is C2000 in itself affected by Power frequency magnetic field?

Would you please shear the test results of IEC61000-4-3 and IEC61000-4-8?

    Or

Would please shear the test condition and admission criteria?

Does C2000 continually work during the test?

    Thanks and Best regards,

    Kuerbis

  • Kuerbis,

I have not seen any case where the C2000 has been affected by Power frequency magnetic field tests. We passed with the highest class, and showed no signs of degradation at any point during any test. Again as I have stressed in my earlier post, the key to passing these tests is good layout.

    Cody

  • Hi Cody,

    Thanks!

The customer understood your answers and suggestions.

    Thanks and Best regards,
