CCS/TMDSHVMTRINSPIN: error: "rude retry" during identification with InstaSPIN

Part Number: TMDSHVMTRINSPIN

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

I want to identify a PMSM motor with InstaSPIN_MOTION_F2806xM.

After connecting the High Voltage Motor Control Kit and starting the application "InstaSPIN_MOTION_F2806xM.exe" the console Output displays a successful connection.

Also the HV Kit Rev 1.1 is detected correctly:

After a few seconds two errors occured:

How can I choose 'Rude Retry' ?

  • I would check all the HW settings on the controlCARD and HVMTR board first.

You aren't showing any Vbus and there is a state error, so something has gone quite wrong.
  • I've checked the HW Settings several times:

    TMDSCNCD28069MISO
    i. SW1: UP-UP
    ii. SW2: DOWN-DOWN
    iii. SW3: UP-UP

    HVMTR_r1p1
    i. Populate: J3, J4, J5, J8,
    ii. Populate: M3-J5
    1. (turns OFF on-kit emulation so you can use controlCARD emulation)
    iii. J7: Right-Middle (towards capacitors)
iv. Motor Phase Wires to U, V, W
    v. J2
    1. For DC bus input (recommended): Do NOT Populate J2 and
    a. connect 50-350V DC supply from BS6 to BS5
    2. For AC input: Populate J2 Bridge-Middle
    a. connect banana cable from BS5 to BS1
    b. connect AC power cord to P1
    3. DO NOT APPLY HIGH VOLTAGE AC OR DC UNTIL ALL CONNECTIONS ARE CHECKED, VERIFIED, AND YOU HAVE LAUNCHED THE GUI
vi. 15V DC power supply to JP1 and SW1 ON

My Controller Card is this one: F2806x controlCARD RELEASE 0.2 with TMS320F28069UPZPS Controller
--> is that the correct Card for the application ?
  • the controlCARD you are using is NOT InstaSPIN enabled. You need
    TMDSCNCD28069MISO
    to run InstaSPIN
  • Hi,

with that controlCARD the motor identification works !
