Programming via RS232 in TMS320F28335

Hi,

I am working on ezdsp28335 kit.

i want to perform flash programming using serial link i.e. rs232 of 28335.on the kit.

I have read the reference guide provided by spectrum digital. but i am unable to connect the dsp using serial link.

one reason for not getting connected was given as pulling down the TX line of the controller.

have anyone tried this. ?

all other care has been taken as per guide.

When I've had issues with SDFlash, reducing the baud rate usually helps. There are some other options that I know of:

The free C2oooProg codeskin tool which programs via your RS232 connection. (http://www.codeskin.com/c2oooProg.html) Download link and Manual are on the left of that page.

low-cost elprotronic FlashPro2000 flash programmer (programs via SCIA-BOOT mode - uses SCI RX, TX pins, a GND and possibly VDDIO pin)- http://www.elprotronic.com/flashpro2000.html Note this tool includes both JTAG AND SCI programming options.

Hi Lori,

thanks for the update.

c2000prog from codeskin needs .hex file for programming.

i tried searchig fior hex utility for this conversion . hex470 utility was a sugggested one in one of the forums but i could not find any link where i can get that utility.

if possible send me the link for that utility

another utility was hex55 but could not find 1

Hex2000.exe in folder C:\programs\Texas Instruments\ccsv4\tools\compiler\c2000\bin

i got the utility, but it does not open as an exe..

i opened it in cmd prompt but unable to convert the .out file.

Pankaj,

It is a command line utility so you can open a command prompt and then use the following:

C:<compiler install directory>/bin/hex2000 -romwidth 16 -memwidth 16 -i -o .\Debug\test.hex .\Debug\test.out

board got connected via RS-232. using codeskin c2000prog utility

downloaded code and executed it via serial cable.

hi tori,

there is a little concern.

i have a designed board of SM320F28335. and serial boot is not working on it.

but it is working on TMS320F8335.

wht could be the issues.

the issue is resolved.

the problem was with the GPIO pins selection.

oin the boot rom reference guide it is mentioned that only GPIO28 and GPIO29 can be used for serial boot.

i was using another GPIO

the issue is sovled. successfully connected the controller via serial boot using C2000prog utility.
