F28M36P63C2: Migration CAN controller SW from F2812 to F28M36

Dear all,

we might get a project where parts of the software must be migrated from F2812 to F28M36 microcontroller, especially the software part for the CAN controller, but time is very short to implement.

Therefore I would like to ask you, if both microcontrollers have the same can controller or are there any bigger differences?

Can the CAN controller only be used by the C28 core inside the F28M36 or by the M3 core either?

The CAN is only available on the M3 for F28M36x. Refer to the data manual for a block diagram of the device - www.ti.com/lit/SPRS825

The module is quite different than that on the 2812. The one on the F28M36s is a popular IP known as D_CAN.

The DCAN module connected to the M3 core is not software compatible with the eCAN module of F2812. DCAN employs a different programming model. If this answers your question, please close the post.
