Hi,

My customer would like to know how to manage VID & PID for the Delfino USB. Does the customer need to apply for their own VID? Does TI manage the PID? If so, how do they get one?

Customer may use the VID and PID provided by TI or the customer may apply for and use their own.

As I understand it that VID is assigned to TI but PID is managed by TI for their customers? If yes, then how do we get assigned a PID or do we simply use one or more as we desire?

TI does not manage the PID for customers.

Thanks.. I hate to be a pain but I am not clear about few details. We will eventually sell the product in an open market. My concern is that if we as a company choose arbitrary PID then we could have a potential of running into issues with other TI based Delfino devices using the same VID. MSP430 group seems to have a formal procedure but your response does not indicate as such. Also in regards to VID, i would use the one that is supplied in usb_ids.h .. i.e. #define USB_VID_TI_1CBE 0x1cbe?

Anil,

You cannot choose an arbitrary PID. If you do not wish to use the VID/PID we provide, then you will need to pay for one from USB-IF.
