TMDXIDDK379D: DesignDrive queries

Part Number: TMDXIDDK379D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DESIGNDRIVE, TMDSCNCD28379D, TMDSEMU110-U, CONTROLSUITE

Hey,

I had a few queries regarding DesignDrive.

  1. The USB emulator available, is it isolated? Does it have any limitation w.r.t debug function etc.?
  2. What is the maximum level of voltage for inputs that the board can accept?
  3. Is there a minimum for input DC Bus voltage that need to be applied?
  4. For EtherCAT connectivity, need I purchase a separate module? Please provide details for the same.
  5. Please provide a reference regarding the protection schemes employed on-board.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Lakshmi.

  • See my answers below your questions, line starting with the alphabetic bullet

    1. The USB emulator available, is it isolated? Does it have any limitation w.r.t debug function etc.?
      1. The emulator is on the control card and the USB is isolated from the C2000 environment.
    2. What is the maximum level of voltage for inputs that the board can accept?
      1. The board is rated at 220V ac mains
    3. Is there a minimum for input DC Bus voltage that need to be applied?
      1. If you want to use the on board switching power supplies, then yes, min needed is about 80V.
    4. For EtherCAT connectivity, need I purchase a separate module? Please provide details for the same.
      1. someothers will reply
    5. Please provide a reference regarding the protection schemes employed on-board.
      1. The protection is mainly for over current, and is described in  level2 incremental build in the user guide
  • for #4> Please take a look at the kit :- www.ti.com/.../tmdsecatcncd379d

This will fit into the IDDK platform.

  • Hey Santhosh,

A few queries about the kit you suggested.

    • It is mentioned that "TMDSCNCD28379D controlCARD EtherCAT connectivity daughter card (pre-attached attached to the controlCARD)- MCU006".

For a DesignDrive, can it be obtained as a complete integrated module, i.e. with the ControlCARD preattached to daughter card?

    • Are there any further considerations?
    • Is there a reference design or solution for ethernet integration with DesignDrive?

    Regards,

    Lakshmi.

  • Hello Ramesh,

    Thank you.

I would like to know more about JTAG. Is TMDSEMU110-U compatible with DesignDrive? Or, which is the most suitable JTAG for the drive?

Is there any difference in the functionalities of the USB emulator and JTAG?

    Regards,

    Lakshmi.

  • Lakshmi,
why are you looking for JTAG solution for the design drive kit? The F28379D Control CARD (or the TMDSECATCNCD379D kit) has inbuilt XDS100v2 JTAG accessibility. All you need is a micro USB cable,, please take a look at the controlCARD info sheet in conntrolSuite (C:\ti\controlSUITE\development_kits\~controlCARDs\TMDSCNCD28379D_v1_0) .

    Hope this helps.

    Best Regards
