TMS320F28379D: Output current from GPIOs

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

Hello, I would like to know what is the maximum output current for each GPIO pin. Does it depend on how many pins I use at the same moment? Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

The GPIO source current depends on the group it belongs to, which can be Group 1 or 2. Group1 supports 4mA of source current and Group2 supports 8mA. Please check the Recommended Operating Conditions under Electrical Characteristics in Device Datasheet.

    Regards,
    Gautam

Hi, thanks for your reply. I couldn't find the groups you talk about on the datasheet. I only found 4 mA for all pins under recommended operating conditions.

What happens if the current exceeds that value but stays under the maximum value indicated in the datasheet (20 mA for this microcontroller)?

This depends on the device again. If 4mA is all mentioned then that's all it supports.

20mA here is the absolute maximum and this can only be an instantaneous value. If it is more than recommended value of 4mA then the GPIO might collapse anytime depending on the stress.
