Dear all,

I am working on a project need a burst ADC in a relatively short time.

The ADC will burst as 4 Channels, 16bit, 1Msps within 1 second.

I am planning to use SRAM or SDRAM as a external, temporal data storage in the Burst ADC mode.

My question is, in the application, a SDRAM will be fast enough (4 x 1 Msps burst data from ADC to external RAM) ?

Hai,

Either interface should be fast enough to keep up. You can see benchmark data from this app note.

It's worth noting that the asynchronous memory space (SRAM) is more flexible than the synchronous memory space (SDRAM) because of C28x address access limitations.

thanks Tommy for your informative answer. In my first impression, SDRAM usually has much bigger storage.
Could you please explain a little bit more about the "because of C28x address access limitations"?

Hi Xuan,

On this device SDRAM is mapped beyond 22bit address lines hence there are some limitations on how data stored in SDRAM space can be used.
