TMS320F28377S: DELFINO

Part Number: TMS320F28377S
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

SALUDOS, QUISIERA SABER SI ME PUEDEN AYUDAR CON UN UN PROBLEMA EN LA TARJETA DELFINO F28377S, SUCEDE QUE AL MOMENTO DE CARGAR UN PROGRAMA SE PRODUJO UN SONIDO SIMILAR AL DE UNA BOBINA CON LO QUE LA TARJETA DEJÓ DE FUNCIONAL, JUNTO AL CONECTOR (LADO DERECHO) DEL CABLE PARA LA PC HAY UN ELEMENTO QUE SE CALIENTA, EN SU SUPERFICIE DICE 505C, ESTE ESTÁ CONECTADO AL PIN DE ALIMENTACIÓN DEL CONECTOR USB DE LA TARJETA; LOS LEDS QUE SE ENCIENDEN NORMALMENTE TIENEN UNA LUZ MUY TENUE.... ALGUIEN SABE LA CAUSA DE ESTO O DE SI SE PUEDE REEMPLAZAR DICHO COMPONENTE?

GREETINGS, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP ME WITH A PROBLEM ON THE CARD DELFINO F28377S, IT HAPPENED THAT AT THE TIME OF LOADING A PROGRAM, A SIMILAR SOUND TO A COIL WAS PRODUCED WITH WHAT THE CARD LEFT FUNCTIONAL, NEXT TO THE CONNECTOR (RIGHT SIDE) ) OF THE CABLE FOR THE PC THERE IS A HEATING ELEMENT, ON ITS SURFACE SAYS 505C, THIS IS CONNECTED TO THE POWER PIN OF THE USB CONNECTOR OF THE CARD; LEDS THAT TURN ON NORMALLY HAVE A LIGHT VERY TENUE .... SOMEBODY KNOWS THE CAUSE OF THIS OR IF IT CAN BE REPLACED SUCH COMPONENT?

  • Hi,

As far as I can understand wrt above extract, some component/controller itself is overheating, right? Which coil sound are you referring to here? Is this a custom board of yours?

    Regards,
    Gautam
  • GRACIAS POR SU PRONTA RESPUESTA, LA TARJETA ES UNA DELFINO F28377S (SOLO LA TARJETA SIN NINGUNA APLICACIÓN O CIRCUITO EXTRA), CUANDO SE CONECTA A LA PC CON EL CABLE EMPIEZA A CALENTARSE EL ELEMENTO MENCIONADO (A MI PARECER ES UN FUSIBLE), UBICADO JUNTO AL CONECTOR USB DE LA TARJETA, TIENE LA NUMERACIÓN 505C (NO ENCUENTRO EN INTERNET REFERENCIA O DATASHEET DE ESTE ELEMENTO), SIGUIENDO EL CIRCUITO SE PUEDE VER QUE DA PASO DE VOLTAJE ENTRE EL CONECTOR USB (QUITO PIN DEL CONECTOR 5Vdc) Y LA TARJETA; CUANDO LA TARJETA RECIÉN SE CONECTA LOS LEDS QUE SIEMPRE SE ENCIENDEN EN LA TARJETA TIENEN UN BRILLO MUY TENUE Y CUANDO SE CALIENTA ESE ELEMENTO SE APAGAN TOTALMENTE; MIDIENDO VOLTAJE EN ESE ELEMENTO PUDIMOS OBSERVAR QUE DE LOS 5VdC QUE INGRESAN, SALEN 4,3V CUANDO SE CALIENTA DISMINUYENDO CADA VEZ MÁS. EL SONIDO AL QUE ME REFIERO ERA PARA EJEMPLIFICAR EL COMPORTAMIENTO DE ESE ELEMENTO, ESTE ES SIMILAR AL RUIDO QUE HACE UNA BOBINA QUE TRABAJA A ALTA FRECUENCIA, ESTE SONIDO VARÍA SI SE HACE CONTACTO CON EL ELEMENTO (EN ESTE CASO PUSIMOS UN DEDO DE LA MANO SOBRE EL ELEMENTO PARA SENTIR COMO SE CALENTABA).
ESPERO CON ESTO PODER EXPLICAR MI PROBLEMA, Y GRACIAS POR SUS COMENTARIOS.
    SALUDOS,
    CRISTIAN.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SOON ANSWER, THE CARD IS A DELFINO F28377S (ONLY THE CARD WITHOUT ANY APPLICATION OR EXTRA CIRCUIT), WHEN IT IS CONNECTED TO THE PC WITH THE CABLE IT STARTS TO HEAT THE ELEMENT MENTIONED (TO MY LOOKING IS A FUSE), LOCATED TOGETHER TO THE USB CONNECTOR OF THE CARD, IT HAS THE NUMBERING 505C (NOT INTERNET REFERENCE REFERENCE OR DATASHEET OF THIS ELEMENT), FOLLOWING THE CIRCUIT YOU CAN SEE THAT IT PASSES VOLTAGE BETWEEN THE USB CONNECTOR (QUITO PIN CONNECTOR 5Vdc) AND THE CARD; WHEN THE CARD IS CONNECTED, THE LEDS THAT ALWAYS TURN ON THE CARD HAVE A VERY HIGH BRIGHTNESS AND WHEN IT IS WARMED THAT ELEMENT WILL TURN OFF COMPLETELY; MEASURING VOLTAGE IN THAT ELEMENT WE COULD OBSERVE THAT OF THE 5VdC THAT ENTER, THEY EXIT 4,3V WHEN IT IS WARMING DIMINISHING EVERY TIME MORE. THE SOUND TO WHICH I REFERRE WAS TO EXAMPLATE THE BEHAVIOR OF THAT ELEMENT, THIS IS SIMILAR TO THE NOISE THAT MAKES A COIL THAT WORKS AT HIGH FREQUENCY, THIS SOUND WOULD VARY IF THE ELEMENT IS CONTACTED (IN THIS CASE WE PLACED A FINGER OF THE HAND ABOUT THE ELEMENT TO FEEL HOW HE HEATED).
I HOPE WITH THIS POWER TO EXPLAIN MY PROBLEM, AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS.
    REGARDS,
    CRISTIAN
  • Is the Delfino F28377S card that you're mentioning above, a TI Launchpad? www.ti.com/.../LAUNCHXL-F28377S
Direct Spanish to English translation doesn't make sense in lot of places. Anyways, does the controller itself get very hot? If its a fuse as you describe above what is the component designator on PCB?

Sometimes, replacing the components do solve the issues but you need to know what other components directly have got affected by the overheating one.

Yes, it's an TI card. I have not been able to find that element that I mention, in PCB or datasheet; in the link that you sent me, in the first image of the card next to the usb connector there is a gold and black element, that is the only one that can be felt that get hot.
  • Please check the schematic here: C:\ti\controlSUITE\development_kits\LAUNCHXL-F28377S\HwDevPkg
Map the component and share the component description. You can go through the BOM too available in the same directory.

    Gautam
  • Chris,

Please confirm if you have the LAUNCHXL-F28377S.

Please follow Gautam's instructions. Open the Schematic pdf file. Every part on the board should have a silkscreen label next to it indicating what the device is. You can look at the BOM file and find the reference to determine exactly what component/part number the failing component is.

It would also be helpful to see a photo of the board with the component circled. This will eliminate any questions as to what/where it is.

Every component on the board is listed in the BOM. You can absolutely go out and install a replacement.

    Thanks,

    Mark

  • Ok, tell me if you will sucess.
  • David,

As this is the fuse that is damaged, I suggest you replace the part. I also suggest that you test for shorts between power and ground on the board. If the fuse blew, there is a chance that other circuits on the board may be damaged.

It is difficult to say the cause of the damage, but it appears there may have been a surge of power that damaged the fuse. As it occurred during your use, your only option is to replace the fuse and keep going. Use ESD protection and make sure that you are operating in an electrically safe environment.

    Thanks,
    Mark
