TMS320F280049: Can FSI be used to replace CAN?

Part Number: TMS320F280049

Hi, some of my customers are very interested in FSI since they can reach up to 100Mbps speed.

But from the TRM, it seems that FSI is for device to device communication, can it communicate between multiple devices?

They would like to know if FSI can be used to replace CAN, if yes, how?

It would be great if you can send me some slides to show more details of using FSI between multiple devices.

  • Howard,

FSI is for device-to-device communication. You are able to hook up multiple receivers to a single transmitter, but this will be like a single-master/many-slave "star connection". Each Receiver will have to receive all messages and use SW to decode if the messages is addressed to them.

We do not have a whole lot of collateral for alternate use-cases at this time for the FSI.

    Thanks,
    Mark
