CCS/TMS320F2812: Issue port CCS 2.x project to CCS 6.x and debugging it

Part Number: TMS320F2812

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Dear C2000 team,

My customer is trying to port a CCS 2.x project based on a F2812 to CCS 6.x.

We set up a new project in a new workspace and created build configurations for Release and Debug. The release build works and runs fine.

However, with the debug build I still see the problem where we run into the Illegal Instruction ISR, and the stack pointer is below the range of the stack.

I was trying to troubleshoot that yesterday. I confirmed that the internal watchdog was turned off when the problem happened (our gel script set WDCR to 0x40, and it remains that way). Initially it seemed to fail always in the same function that runs from internal RAM (H0RAM) – every time that function was called the SP was 0x10 less than before the function was entered, leading to the RPC being set to the wrong value when exiting the calling function. However, as I started setting breakpoints in different locations, it errored out before even getting to that function.

We are looking for help, to get the Debug-version of the CCS 6.x project to work.

Thanks,

BR,

Matthias
