Hi, Champs,

I noticed that we no longer provide INTOSCxTRIM registers for INTOSC1/2 in the TRM, and there's no osc_comp function is example code or +/-1% accuracy statement in DS when documenting its Characteristics in chapter 6.8.3.5 Internal Oscillators and Table 6-26. INTOSC Characteristics in SPRS945B, does that mean there's no calibration function for INTOSC anymore in the OTP zone, and customer has to use external clock source with higher PPM if their end equipment will work across full range temperature?

Hi Ricky,

That is correct; we do not have any additional compensation that can be applied to F28004x devices (also true for F2837xD, F2837xS, and F2807x).

Thanks for your quick response and confirmation.

Why didn't we keep the compensation for INTOSCx like Piccolo devices? Any cost or technical considerations?

Some customers are still prefer to use internal oscillator, while now they have to choose external one, which will make the INTOSC meaningless in design.

Hi Ricky,

These devices use different oscillator designs than F2802x/3x/5x/6x devices. For this design, compensation is not possible (but the typical and min/max performance "out-of-the-box" is much better).

INTOSC is still useful as a back-up for fault tolerance and as the main oscillator in applications that aren't dependent on tight frequency accuracy.
