Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1148-Q1, , ADS1148, C2000WARE

Hello all,

I want to interface external ADC, ADS1148-q1 with the controller. I want to configure both for 16 bits preferably the communication will be done by SPI, will there be delay in obtaining data or any other issues regarding with sampling time or anything else?

Regards,

Ami

What do you mean by both here? Internal as well as external ADC?

For external ADC: At what speed are you planning to configure your SPI peripheral? Also, what ADC sampling rate do you plan to opt for?

  • Hi Ami,

Since it's been a couple weeks, we are going to assume that you were able to solve your issue. If this isn't the case, reject the resolution or just reply with the current status of your issue.
  • Sorry for the delay time Devin.

I want to use ADS1148 with TMS320f28377D. I want to know that what should I connect to REFP0 and REFN0  pins? Is it okay to leave pins IEXC0 and IEXC1 open? Clk pin to ground? And it will be very helpful if you can provide the code to have Spi communication.

And is there any external ADC which will be having sampling in MSPS? As internal ADC has 1.1MSPS while ADS1148 has 2KSPS.

  • Hi Ami,

For selecting an external ADC and for how to configure the specific discrete ADC ADS1148 you'll want to create another thread in the data converter e2e forums. (We can only help you with C2000 device related questions here). Let me know if you have any issues with getting another thread created or getting support from the other forum.

For the SPI communication, we don't have these drivers. The best we have are the SPI examples in C2000ware. If you run into specific issues writing these drivers you can create a thread here for help.

Any reason you don't want to use the 16-bit ADC already included on the F28377x device?
  • Thank you Devin,

I want to use external ADC because all the ADC pins present in controller TMS320F28377D, I am using are in differential mode and I have 11 inputs but we can work with only 9 inputs in differential mode.

    Regards,
    Ami
  • Hi Ami,

If it helps, the ZWT package of this device has 12 differential channels.
