TMS320F28379D: what's the difference between the emulator on controlCARD and XDS100 or XDS200 emulator?

Part Number: TMS320F28379D

In every controlCARD including F280xx and F283xx we will have an onboard emulator, is it possible that the customer build the emulator by their own according to the schematic provided? Is it the same with XDS100 or XDS200?

    Hi Zou,

    You are asking about emulator itself or how the emulator is connected with device (schematic) on board? Assuming it's connection on the board, then yes, user can refer to controlCARD but also need to refer this wiki page -

    I mean the emulator itself. They don't have to buy the emulator if they can build one as shown in the controlCARD.

    You can very build your own XDS100. Refer this wiki article:

    *XDS100v2 is recommended.

    As for the difference, apart from the isolation in hardware - the functionality is one and the same.

    Hi Howard,

    The xds100v1 or xds100v2 can be built into a customer's design.  Details for this can be found on TI's xds100 wiki page.

    We only release the design for the xds200 to emulation companies.

    For most boards, I would recommend just putting a JTAG header (and not including an on-board emulator).  In most cases, this will simplify the design & minimize board cost in a customer's board.
