TMS320F28075: external sync via EPWMSYNCINSEL unclear

Part Number: TMS320F28075

Hi,

we would like to sync two 28075 and their PWMs via external sync.

Sync output from one controller can be done via OUTPUTXBAR.

Sync input on the other controller is unclear:

EPWMSYNCINSEL in the reference manual spruhm9d.pdf (13.14.2.3) has no real explanation, only "+I722"

In Figure 13-49, EXTSYNCIN1/2 are connected to Input X-Bar Input5/6.

In Table 13-130, I can select EXTSYNCIN1/2 for EPWM4SYNCIN, EPWM7SYNCIN, EPWM10SYNCIN.

How can I select external sync for PWM1 (shown in Figure 15-8)?

What is the meaning of the EPWMSYNCINSEL bits?

Thanks in advance,

Stephan

  • Hi Stephan,

You do not need to configure the EPWM1 sync in. It is always connected to EXTSYNCIN1. Please reference the figure "Time-Base Counter Synchronization Scheme 4" for more information. When you program the INPUTXBAR, this signal will automatically be routed to EPWM1. You will then just need to configure the PHSEN register as with any other PWM for synchronization.

The EPWMSYNCINSEL is not applicable for this device and is a mistake in the documentation. It will be removed from the next release of the document.

    Regards,

    Kris

  • Ah, okay, thanks for clarification!
