CCSTUDIO-C2000: XDS110

Part Number: CCSTUDIO-C2000
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28027, TMDSEMU110-U

Hi,

TI recommends to buy the newly developed XDS110 programmer for C2000 devices, TMS320F28027 in my case. However, this programmer is currently unavailable. The TI website states "Out of stock" when I try to order it for over one month now. Any idea when shold this programmer be available?

Regards

Dusan

  • What specific part number are you trying to order?

When I check  PN: TMDSEMU110-U it seems to be available.

  • Hi,

    Yes, it seems available...

I put it into the shopping basket and check out to pay. Then the system asks me to log-in in order to check the availability of the XDS110. And when I check-in the system reports that the programmer is "out of stock".

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Dusan

  • You may want to use the affordable and available xds100v2. They look to be in stock from a few different sources on the web.
  • Yes, Thanks! Those programmers are available even at Farnell, my "local" distributor, and I could have it in few days. However, since TI recommends a newer programmer with additional and enhanced features I wanted to buy that one (XDS110). If I need to spend money I might as well spend it for the most modern version.
As a last resort there are cheap Chinese clones of the XDS100V2 available at ebay. But as the proverb says: I am not rich enough to buy cheap stuff. I would prefer to buy the contemporary programmer which is recommended but seems to be unavailable.

  • Hi,
Any comment from TI? When will the programmer XDS110 be available? For the time being I will scavenge one of my old launchpads with F28027, but I would like to have a real programmer for the future.

  • Hi Dusan,

I wouldn't have any concern with buying a xds100v2 instead of a xds110, especially the one from Spectrum Digital.  I've used an xds100v2 for years.  Both are capable debug probes.  The major difference between the two, when using a C2000 device, is the speed of the connection.

That being said, I personally recommend the xds200, if there is enough budget for it.  Faster loading times means less time waiting and more time debugging/writing code.

On the page above (and under debug probes), you'll find a link to speed benchmarks.  You'll also find some more comments about the various options.

I don't have any specific comments on availability of the xds110.  If you still want to know availability for the xds110 after reading this, let me know & I can check next week.

    Thank you,
    Brett

  • Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion and the final sentence. In this case I will most likely use the old F28027 board with XDS100V2 programmer on-board, it will do for now. Once the issues with the XDS110 are resolved, I will buy that programmer and get/use the bonus Energy-trace (once that is available) and the serial port. My client will in the meantime obtain his own version of XDS100V2...
    Best regards
