TMS320F28377D: I have some questions about TMS320F28377D

Part Number: TMS320F28377D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: C2000WARE, OPA320, OPA350

Hi,

I am  some questions about TMS320F28377D as below, please help to answer:

1. Do you have any specific requirements for the use of external reference for ADC in chip ?
3, How much SDRAM can 28377D hang out, and what is the maximum rate of DMA support?
4, Where can I find a dual - port RAM Demo with TMS230F28377D?
5, is there a demo of bootloader for 28377?
6. What is the maximum frequency of the 28377 output PWM waveform? What is the carrier frequency?

I look forward to your reply. Thank you.

  • Hi Chen,

I'll provide response to some of the queries. Other queries will be answered by other members of of our team.

3, How much SDRAM can 28377D hang out, and what is the maximum rate of DMA support?

We have two EMIF module on this device and each has difference address lines. Please refer Memory Map section of device datasheet to get this info for each EMIF. Also refer this app note for info related to DMA.

4, Where can I find a dual - port RAM Demo with TMS230F28377D?

Can you please provide more detail about this? What dual-port RAM you are referring here?

    Regards,

    Vivek Singh

  • Hi Vivek:
Thank you for your quickly feedback. I meat that 28377D have double DSP core. They can also use DP-RAM for communication? I want to kown how to operat the DP-RAM. Do you have a code demo for this? Thanks.
  • Chen, we do not have DP RAMs on this device. Access to shared RAMs from different masters are arbitrated based on round-robin scheme. You can refer "RAM_management" example in C2000Ware on this topic.

  • Hi Chen,

We have some requirements for a bulk capacitor to be placed on the VREFHI pins. You can read more about this in the VREFHI signal descriptions in Section 4.2 "Signal Descriptions" the datasheet:
    www.ti.com/.../terminal-configuration-and-functions

We strongly recommend that you drive the ADC reference pins with an op-amp that has high bandwidth, low noise, and high stability when driving large capacitive loads. We recommend OPA320 or OPA350. A little more detail can be found in the TRM (www.ti.com/.../spruhm8g.pdf ) in the section "Designing an External Reference Circuit".
  • Hi Chen,

The PWM can output a minimum pulse of 20 ns which correlates to 50 MHz. The carrier frequency will be defined by your application.

Keep in mind that EPWMCLK must be 100 MHz or less.

    Regards,
    Kris
