C2000 Ethercat Stack Size/Cycles

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE

Hi,

Do we have some ballpark numbers on the size of the ethercat stack for the delfino family along with cycles for something simple like sending/receiving a message?

Regards,

Jake

  • Jake,
Please have the user look at TMDSECATCNCD379D kit and SW support for the kit is available in controlSuite ( C:\ti\controlSUITE\development_kits\TMDSECATCND379D_V1.0).

With the provided collateral user should be able to build an EtherCAT stack for C28x and get the details needed.

The slave stack code size should be (approximately) around 24KB with 16KB of data, the size of data section depends on the mail box protocols and input/outputs the application uses, so this is application dependent.

We can support both EMIF (ASYNC16) and SPI PDI interface and I don't have cycle numbers for what you ask.

  • Thanks Santosh,

Do we have a rough estimate for cpu loading of a fairly simple implementation? Just trying to get an understanding of ball park usage ie less than 10% or greater than 50%.

Want to understand how this will impact the application we have running.

    Regards,
    Jake
  • Jake,

I will syncup offline on the needs. I would like to be able to do some more testing before I'm ready to publish the numbers. For now we would like customers to perform the experiments needed.
