C2000 family Device suggestion for motor control

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28377D, TMS320F28377S, TMS320F280045, TMS320F28069F, TMS320F28069M

Please suggest a motor control device for below requirements.

Application to control & run 2 motors which are 3 phase BLDC/PMSM  AC motors in parallel with 5KW power each.

Also the maximum/high cycle time supported by the device? (Cycle time means the time required to adjust the duty cycle of the PWM based on the control systems involved feedback from running motors)

  • There is so many C2000 devices can support your requirement. TMS320F28069C is a better choice for your application first.
  • as Yanming stated, there are many C2000 devices that meet this requirement.

if you are providing the system expertise I would suggest
    TMS320F28377D
or it's single core variant TMS320F28377S

if cost becomes a concern you can look at the new
    TMS320F280045

    if you want InstaSPIN-FOC
    TMS320F28069F
    or InstaSPIN-MOTION
    TMS320F28069M
  • Need clarification on cycle time supported by the device suggested by you above.
  • that depends on the control algorithms you are running.

these devices are 90 MHz to 200 MHz CPUs, all with // co-processor options.

customers are running current loops typically at 5 to 40 KHz for motor control.  for power control applications they run into the 1 MHz range.
