TMDSSSOLARPEXKIT: PV-Off Grid Application

Hello Everyone,

I am using TMDSSOLARPEXKIT and trying to understand some of the kit applications. I found the following application of the Solar Explorer Kit from the User Guide (SPRABR4A).

My question: When the PV panel is producing power, is it possible to supply the load and charge the battery at the same time?

PV-Off Grid Inverter System

  • There are two aspects to the question.

    1. Hardware capability: as you can see from the diagram above the relay is a SPDT, hence as-is the hardware cannot enable this. You can remove the relay and short some connections to enable this

    2. SW capability: We provide SW for the DC-DC boost and the DC-AC inverter in one project and MPPT is run on DC-DC boost. We also have another SW example that runs the SEPIC converter and the DC-AC for driving a LED string. MPPT is run on the battery.

You will need a hybrid SW that combines both of the above which you can take pieces from the above two examples for. MPPT will be an issue that you will need to address in your SW and decide how you current share between SEPIC and the boost.

    Good luck with your project
