TMS320F2812: 2812_PWM_ISSUE

Part Number: TMS320F2812

Hi sir,

When I am trying to generating PWMs in 2812 controller (PWMs 1,2,3,4,5,6) are coming and the same PWMs 7,8,9,10,11,12 are coming with some phase shift. Event manger B is shifting with some Event manager A  pWMS. Why this is so??Is there any specific reason??

Thanks and regards,

BHARADWAJ V

  • Hi Bharadwaj,

On this device, PWMs 1-6 are generated by event manager A, PWMs 7-12 from event manager B.  The event managers are clocked separately and there is no hardware synchronization between them.  The phase shift you are seeing is most likely because the GP timers from which the PWMs are constructed (GPtimer 1 for EVA and GP timer 3 for EVB) are being started at slightly different times in the code.

Newer devices use a completely different PWM architecture in which PWM time-bases can be synchronized and a phase offset applied in hardware, but this was not possible on the F2812.

    Regards,

    Richard
