TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT - input rectifier unit not working in the board

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSHVMTRINSPIN

Hi

We have purchased a TMDSHVMTRPFCKIT with induction motor , PMSM and BLDC motor for our research group, working in the area of transportation electrification .

The Kit is supplying induction motor of quarter Hp. And the dc link is jumped from rectified out of the ac grid to the dc link of the inverter module.

However after some consecutive tests, the input rectifier unit is not properly working and its not building the dc voltage. I am not using the PFC module, just bypassing the rectified dc directly dc link of the inverter. There some strange sound from the PFC module. I have thoroughly checked all the connection and believe there is no shorting or loose connections. and its kept in a dust free surrounding.

Can you please let me know what could be the issue.

Thanks

Regards

Rishi

  • Hi Rishi,

    Can you clarify?
What version of the kit do you have?
What testing was being done when the input rectifier stopped working?
    What voltage is being measured?
What type of strange noise are you hearing?
  • Hi Rick

    Apologies for delayed response.

    1. I am using TMDSHVMTRINSPIN version of kit.

    2. I was testing the scalar v/f control of IM, using the Ti firmware and F28069M control card.

    3. The filtered pulses were measure and the motor line voltage using differential probe.

    4. There was some kind of humming noise from inductor.

Unfortunately when I retried to apply the voltage through utility, few resistors in the  PFC unit blown. There was no other power unit connected to same utility source. As you can see in the picture I am bypassing the PFC module, still the PFC unit got affected. The bottom of the board seems to be fine. I tried to supply dc-link of the inverter through an external DC source, the inverter module and auxiliary unit are working fine. But cannot use the rectifier and PFC module anymore.

Can you please suggest some  solution, what might have went wrong or how I can replace the rectifier unit.

    Thanks

    Regards
