CCS/DRV8301-69M-KIT: DRV8301-69M-KIT + eCAP

Part Number: DRV8301-69M-KIT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello. Is it possible to connect the еCAP to DRV8301-69M-KIT? in hal.c GPIO 40, 41, 42 do not have an еCAP.

Andrew.

  • Unfortunately, the GPIO 40/41/42 are not able to be mux'd to the eCAP module as you mentioned. The designer must have intended the CAP module to support Hall sensor through GPIO interface; while possible, this will inherently have less resolution than the eCAP module.

Looking at the design files, it may be possible to jumper some of the existing pin-outs to jack into the eCAP module - first thing that jumps out at me is pins 76/78/79 on the DIMM connector, which map to GPIO 7/9/11. You'll need to disconnect the two push button (Start/Stop) inputs and you'll have to sacrifice DAC-2, but this may be a possibility for you. Also, GPIO 54/55/56/57 (DIMM 20/70/22/72 respectively) were left as NC on the DRV8301 HW board, but connect to the HRCAP module on the 69M controlCARD. You may be able to jumper into these pins as well.. None of these are ideal situations, but are likely your only choices for wiring into the eCAP/HRCAP modules on the F28069M using the DRV8301 HW kit

  • I connected DIMM Pins 30 and 79 and removed R20. I do not need DAC2. :) GPIO-40 must be set input.
