CCS/TMS320LF2406A: Doubts about xds510

Hello, I'm a new user of Texas DSPs.

I would like to debug a board with TMS320LF2406APZA.

In thesite of spectrum digital I have 2 options:

1) XDS510 USB JTAG EMULATOR :

2) C2000 Series XDS510LC JTAG Emulator :

The last one is cheaper than the first.

Can I use C2000 Series XDS510LC JTAG Emulator instead of XDS510 USB JTAG EMULATOR for my purpose, since TMS320LF2406 has got a C2000 dsp core ?

What are the principal differents between these emulators?

Yes, you can use XDS510LC with the LF2406A. The emulator selection guide on the SD website is pretty clear on that point:

Where lower cost emulators are offered by any vendor the difference is usually the data throughput. In DSP applications you might notice a difference when streaming large amounts of data across the emulation interface. On C2000, if you are viewing a graph in CCS in real-time mode, the updates would be slower. For general use and stop/start debugging, you will not see a difference.

Please be aware that LF2406A is in the "Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND)" status. If this is a new project, I strongly urge you to look at later generation processors, like F28031.
