LAUNCHXL-F28027F: Basic skeleton project to start using C2000 Launchpad

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28027F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MOTORWARE, CONTROLSUITE

Hello everybody.

I am a total beginner using the F28027F launchpad. I went through all the labs included in Motorware but found the code overwhelming.

I have used the MSP430 and MSP432, but when tried to start a basic project to turn on/off the LEDs on the C2000, I was lost.

I downloaded an example from the Controlsuite (FlashingLeds-F28027), and I get an error when debugging (Unable to launch debug session. The specified file "C:users\Rafael\ti\CCSTargetConfigurations\F28027_INSTASPIN.ccxml" does not exist in the file system. Does this mean I have to use the INSTASPIN libraries in every project? Or how could I get rid of this debbuging error?

Is there anyway I can get just a basic project from which I can build on?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

Ralf

  • Ralf,

As a new user, I would suggest looking at one of our workshops. The only issue is the workshops for this device were developed in December 2010, and as a result it uses an earlier version of Code Composer Studio (CCSv4) and a different target development system - the controlSTICK and Experimenter Kit, rather than a LaunchPad. Though, there should not be a problem remapping the jumper connections, you still might need to make other slight modifications to the lab code. The workshop for the F28027 can be found at:

    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../C2000_Archived_Workshops

The F28027 and F28035 devices are very similar, except the F28035 has additional memory, a CLA, and other additional communication peripherals. Therefore, I would also recommend reviewing the F28035 workshop since it provides more details about the device. Again, with sligt modifications (linker .cmd file, etc.) you should be able to run most of the F28035 workshop lab exercise code on the F28027 LaunchPad. The F28035 workshop can be found at:

    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../C2000_Archived_Workshops

If you want to use the latest version of CCSv7, then perhaps review the 'lab directions' in the F28379D workshop. Please understand that I am only referring to this workshop to provide you the directions that are specific to CCSv7. Here you will find how to start a new project with CCSv7, etc. This workshop can be found at:

    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../C2000_Multi-Day_Workshop

Also, the main home Wiki page for the workshops can be found at:

    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../C2000_32-bit_Real-Time_MCU_Training

I realize that this is a lot of information to absorb, so please feel free to post any questions that you may have about these workshops. If this answers your question, then please click the green "Verified Answer" button. Thank you.
