Good luck University Offenburg's Team Schluckspecht! They’re using TI C2000™ MCUs in the South African Solar Challenge 2010 to try for electric car WORLD RECORD! The two-week race in solar-powered cars requires teams to build their own cars, design their own engineering systems and race the machines through demanding African terrain. The race started September 23 and finishes October 2nd!
The goal is to see which car can drive the longest without “fueling” the car. Team Schluckspecht is using its battery powered Schluckspecht E. car which features an F28335 to control each of the in-wheel motors. The team is trying to go 1200km without recharging the batteries – which would be a world record!!
They like to beat this year an actual world record! The new, battery-powered Schluckspecht E shall go for a distance of over 1200km without recharging the batteries. This attempt will take place in South Africa, during the 2010 South African Solar Challenge. Check back soon as we’ll report back as soon as we know the results!
