Microcontroller supporting BLE 5.0 and USB (Host and Device)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2652R, MSP430F5529, MSP430WARE

Hi,

We were looking for a MCU supporting BLE 5.0. We selected CC2652 initially. But later our customer had asked for USB interface that can be configured as USB and Host. Also his requirement got extended to SDK support.

So ultimately we are looking for a MCU that supports BLE 5.0/Zigbee + USB (Host andd Device) + SDK support. Please suggest suitable options.

Vijetha

  • Hello,

This sounds like a challenging customer to support if their specs keep changing on you. For these current set of requirements, I'd recommend using our MSP432E4 SimpleLink Wired MCU. Along with our new SimpleLink™ Multi-Standard CC2652R Wireless MCU, the MSP432E4 MCU should check all the other boxes: USB Host, SDK support.

Another option would be the MSP430F5529 which features USB Host but doesn't feature SDK support (although there are several libraries like DriverLib available with our MSP430Ware).

    Regards,

    James

  • 2 Questions :

    1. Do you mean : Use CC2652 for BLE5.0/Zigbee and Use SimpleLink Wired MCU for USB + SDK. Am I correct?

    2. Are there any MCUs having BLE 5.0/Zigbee + USB + SDK support in a single package?
