TMS320F280049: GPIO max sink current?

Part Number: TMS320F280049

Hi Champs,

One of my customer want to confirm about max sink current of GPIOs. The datasheet shows that max sink current is 4mA as the table below. But, if users use GPIOs as following condition, is it acceptable? Though peak value is over the recommended 4mA but the average sink current looks like a spec-in.

- Peak sink current : 8mA

- On/Off Cycle Duty: 50%

- Average sink current : 4mA

Thanks,

Steve

  • Hi Steve,

All the product qualification and characterization is using 4mA currents. Probably the GPIO can support 8mA of current, but it is not TI recommended. Also we do not guarantee Vol of 0.4V for IOL greater than 4mA.
