TMS320F28377D: Using IQmath and Float in TMS320F28377D controller

Hi,

Iam using TMS320F28377D controller in one of my application. There i need to use both Float and IQmath in single CPU. How can i use and what to be included for doing so. Please suggest .

There should be no difficulty in combining float and IQ data types in the same program.

You define MATH_TYPE as IQ_MATH in the IQmathLib.h header file (so your IQ variables are unchanged when you compile), and link IQmath_fpu32.lib into your project. Everything should be fine.

Hi Richard,

Thank you for the information. Let me know one more thing. What should I set in properties ?softlib or fpu32. Can I add fast RTS also, For reducing instruction execution time of float operations.

Hi Priyanka,

You should select fpu32 for the --float_support option, so the compiler uses FPU instructions when it needs them. You can also use the FastRTS library, providing you link it before the RTS library (see documentation). None of these will conflict with each other. The key point is when you define a variable as _iq type, it's the MATH_TYPE definition in IQmathLib.h which determines whether it's compiled as a float or IQ.

If i am selecting FPU32 then it is giving problem for iq_math instructions.

Hi Richard,
I am afraid this way won't work. In my application, I have got errors" IQMath.Lib<***.obj> specifies ISA revision "C2800", chich is not compatible with ISA revision "C2700"specified in a previous file or...".
I am also looking for a way to do this. Any other ideas? Thanks.

My mistake. IQmath_fpu32.lib should be used instead of IQmath.lib. MATH_TYPE sets as IQ_MATH.
