DRV8312-C2-KIT PMSM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CONTROLSUITE, MOTORWARE

hello,

1. If you want to drive the PMSM with the DRV8312-C2-KIT, what are the requirements for the PMSM selection? How to connect with J10?

2. What is the principle of the DRV8312-C2-KIT using Hall to acquire the PMSM position signal?

thank you very much.

  • Q1. Refer to the schematic of DRV8312-C2-Kit, J10 is connected to GPIO/CAP pins of C2000 controller, which is used to sample the hall input signal to implement the motor commutation and speed calculation.
Q2. Often, the BLDC/PMSM use hall effect sensor to implement trapezoidal control, the three hall sensors provide three overlapping signals giving a 60 degree wide position range for commutation. The three signals are wired to the C2000 Capture/GPIO Input pins, thus speed can be calculated by measuring the time interval between two Input Captures. Torque/current and speed close loop control can be available depends on your requirement.

You may download controlSUITE and motorware from TI website, there are many example project and related application note/lab guide as below about running PMSM with DRV8312-C2-Kit. You may refer to these projects, and let me know if you have any question.
