TMS320F28379S: Need definition for EPWMSYNCINSEL register.

Thanks but I am now wondering if the SYNCOUTSEL is implemented?
The document for 379 says it is and the two articles you mentioned above are at odds with each other.

This is how you set SYNCI:
"The ePWM type 4 introduces a new synchronization scheme that allows for increased flexibility of
synchronization of the ePWM modules. Each ePWM module has a synchronization input (SYNCI) and a
synchronization output (SYNCO). In , EXTSYNC1 is sourced from INPUTXBAR5 and EXTSYNC2 is
sourced from INPUTXBAR6, which can be configured to select any GPIO as the synchronization input.
When configuring the sync chain propagation path using the SYNCSEL registers, make sure that the
longest path does not exceed four ePWM/eCAP modules."

Ok then my question now is the diagram for the 379 on page 1565 correct?? Is this the only way to connect the sync in 's & outs? No choice about it?

If that's the case this sux.... big time!!!. I have spent a lot of time getting this design crafted only to find out that the chip will not do what I need it to do. How to I prevent this from happening again????

This has been an inordinate waste of my time.

I have done this same thing with another vendor of chips only to find out that their chip just randomly puts out 8 ns pulses whenever it feels like it. Took months to find that out. All they had to say was "Too bad, So sad". So I came over to TI thinking that is would not happen here. Oh well shame on me. I should have asked where are the hidden secrets and dirty laundry are in the silicon and the documentation before even starting.

Do you have any suggestions on how to get out of this mess?

The ePWM synchronization scheme is pretty flexible, so I think we should be able to find a way to get your application to work.

Feel free to 'friend' me on e2e and then send me a private message with your email. We can then setup a call, if desired, with some applications and/or systems engineers to go over your application.

I want to reiterate that the sync’ scheme on the device is very flexible and should be capable of meeting his application needs. All the configurations in the sync chain diagrams are implemented (they just aren’t configured by the extraneous register in question). You are able to select your sync signals using the other registers in the TRM.

I recommend that you look at our example code. If you originally thought that the powerful ePWM module on this device is capable of meeting your requirements, then I am sure it will. EPWMSYNCIN is just a extra register included in the doc by mistake. You can select your sync in and sync out sources using other ePWM registers.
