TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC: Design Modification

Part Number: TIDM-HV-1PH-DCAC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SFRA

Hi,

My application requires input voltage of 650VDC, power rating of 1.1kVA with output voltage options similar to that in the existing design. Please advise the design changes other than change in IGBT and gate drivers to scale up the design to suit my requirements.

If you can recommend a reference design for a simple 650VDC, 1.1kVA to 110V, 60Hz or 230V, 50Hz inverter with sine PWM control, it will be very helpful.

Regards,

Lakshmi

  • lakshmi,

I see the question is specific to the software? as you have taken care of the voltage and power related changes in HW.

For the SW changes please step thorugh the UG, on the CFG page we have options to change switching frequency, deadtime, etc. If you keep the same mapping of the MCU pins as the design the initial SW should get you started quickly.

From the control aspects, we have incremental builds by which you can check stability etc, of the design. you can use SFRA etc for tuning.

We don;t have any HW reference design for that bus value and power level unfortunatley. This is the closest EVM.

  • Thanks Manish, for suggesting the possible software changes.

It would be helpful if you can suggest specific hardware changes as well. Would anything apart from IGBTs and gate drivers, need to be changed/modified?

  • Lakshmi,

This is a rather broad question and one I am not resourced to answer on the forum.

Typically, you will look at the BOM see what component voltage stress/ current stress is going to change and if there is enough margin. You may have to select new components based on this analysis. A simple power electronics course will expose you to how to understand these stresses, it is not possible for me to explain this on a forum post. This could inlclude DC link cap, current sensor part, voltage scaling resistors etc.

Next, you may have to consider layout change with increased creepage etc for the higher voltage stress.

I don't think the gate driver will necessarily have to change,.
