LAUNCHXL-F28069M: Separated Analog and Digital grounds or not?

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-F28069M

Dear All

In LAUNCHXL-F28069M there are separation of grounds or all the grounds are the same?

Can I connect the ground of the inputs that goes to ADC pins in J7 to the ground in J6?

Is the ground in J6 (Pin 60) exactly the ground in J7 (Pin 62)?

Thanks

Luis Gonçalves

  • Luis,

On the LAUNCHXL-F28069M, the grounds are all the same on the MCU side of the Isolation barrier. J6 and J7 are the same ground and the Analog Ground is the same as the digital ground.

We chose to do this to reduce board complexity on these LaunchPads as they are generally used for evaluation purposes. For higher performance and analog signal integrity, we recommend creating a separate ground plane for both digital (VSS) and analog (VSSA) grounds where they are tied at a single point with a 0-ohm resistor or a Via with star connection.

    Thanks,
    Mark
